Had some 18" AMG V22 spoke wheels refurbished this week to fit on my SL55. very pleased with the result. They have been powder coated and I was wondering before they are fitted on the car what would be the best way to further protect them?
I can get my local spray shop to lacquer them I suppose but just wondering what others would do?

got both of them bits of advice thanks :)

I was looking more for products!

Its great stuff that C5 but you do pay for the pleasure. I use fk1000p on mine and redo them every 3 months - they always look great and the jetwash is all they need when it comes to cleaning.

Yup.
I use FinishKare waxes too.
I alternate between the 1000p and their #2685 and top them off with their #425
I use them on the wheels, body, calipers and windows.

thanks for the reply's, because I'm a lazy git is there anything that can be sprayed on or is it all applicated wax for the best protection?

Longest protection should in theory come from one of the coatings like GTechniq C5, Car Pro, Gyeon etc. you could be looking up to 2 years of protection and in theory simple wash with shampoo to keep clean in between.

Just coated mine with C5, it's quicker to apply IMO than something like a wax/sealant. Like everything it's all in the prep, wheels need to be spotlessly clean to give best chance of bonding.

Wouldn't rule out a wax/sealant, plenty out there. As others have said FK1000p would be a good choice. Alternatives...Auto Finesse Mint Rims (often on offer on Amazon) or Black Magic Detailing Revolutions.

No, nothing that's going to do a good job. Spray wax is usually only used as a top up between full waxes.

If a lazy git, then get something like the C5 then. I won't go as far as above and say 2 years but it will certainly last a year without having to reapply. If you go for a wax you'll be applying it 4-5 times in the same period. ;)

Mark, I've got some info for you but can't send you a PM until you hit 30 posts.

I hope you see this:
Gtechniq Home // G|Techniq

And this - you need to first one shown, with MB115 resin and a TDS meter to see how the resin is doing over time:

Hi John
was good to meet you today, the condition of your car is a credit to you, thanks for showing me around and explaining the processes.
I will look into this info, thanks again.

Gtechniq C5 is the way to go whilst the wheels are off.

After coating let the product cure for at least a day before fitting to you car. Use Gtechniq Silo Seal for a quick detail.
