Hi all

I would like to get some information with regards to alloy wheels for W203 C200K. Can anyone let me know whether my car can take the following type of wheels without any modification: rear wheels 285/35 ZR 18, and for the front wheels: 255/40 R18.

My wheels now are the standard 16 inches wheels. I've already tried to do a search for this information in this forum but couldn't anything specific to this.

Thanks in advance

Those are tyre sizes rather than wheel sizes.

You will struggle to get a 285 tyre on the rear and 255 probably won't work on the front either!

The maximum tyre sizes you should be looking at (width only) are 255 for the rear and 235 on the front, that would suit a 10" wide wheel in the rear and a 9" wide wheel on the front. Remember that the larger the diameter of the wheel the more square the shoulders will be and therefore more chance of rubbing on bodywork or suspension components.

Were there some specific wheels that you had in mind?

Thanks for a quick reply Shude. You're right, that is the size for the tyres. Anyway, I'll keep in mind the sizes that you have stated. I've no particular wheels in mind but I am thinking of upgrading from my current 16". I'll like to stick to Mercedes design, so I am on the look for good used ones due to my limited budget..hhmmm.

By the way, other than 10" rear & 9" front, should I be be worrying about the off set as well as I was made to understand that C200K's offset are 35 - 42. So does it mean that I can only go for the wheels within that range?

Thanks again

You cannot say that a particular offset will work without also knowing the width of the wheel.

There are only a few basic fitment sizes and anything designed to fit the 190E, C, SLK, CLK, E and SL should fit your car. If you buy wheels that were previously fitted to an SL you might find that the tyres are not appropriate but the wheel itself will fit.

Thanks again Shude...the information provided has been very useful indeed

Cheers
