Sitting around the house one quiet Sunday, a glass or 3 of white wine, looking at cars on ebay or the local paper thinking what you really want to buy!

4 weeks ago i was doing this, and i had set my heart on a CLK55 2004 or newer to replace or '91 500SL, however with another baby on the way it is a lot of money so pat that in the summer with the baby the roof will have to be up.

SO, i look around and think mmmmmm, We have an mondeo estate which is practical and an excellent all round car (however dint get me started about the dealers!) an A160 elegance (great school run car) and the 500SL which has not had the use it should of. so i decide sell the mondeo and the SL and buy a 4x4.

next thing i know its Monday morning and the 4x4 is still making sense (damn the tesco's Australian)

I confess i not a big fan of the ML its nice but not me so i get looking at range rovers, nice well built cars with a touch of class, budget £19000.

Monday after noon look at at HSE 03 at £25000, nice but i want a telly in the front (£2.89 a bottle and its got me dreaming about range rovers!)

Monday evening, the second range rover i look at I buy! for £27,000. I started the weekend with no intention to buy a car let alone sped £27k.

I am seriously impressed with the vehicle and want to take it off road.

any why this is not Range Rover forum, i am selling my 500SL and i am after £4500 any one interested? see my other thread

The mondeo was fantastic 2002 TDci Ghia estate with 135k on the clock

I listed on ebay last Saturday for £3500 and within hours had an offer of £3300 within hours and was collected the following day

really pleased with that

I still have the A160 so will still be here!

A nice car collection, bet the insurance companies love you! Love the RR

Knu7s, how have you found the RR. In terms of reliability, fuel consumption. I am intrested in purchasing one and have been looking for about the last six months. Prices have started coming down to a nice level.
Just would like a verdict from a fellow mercedes driver.

Sorry Guys not been on here for ages, Ianh i have responded to your private message

Kam, thanks for your message. The Range Rover is great. It is ultra reliable and always runs sweet as a nut, average MPG is about 24 i have had this up to 34 on a run.

The dealers are first class, my only advice would be get a Vogue as they are better speced cars and make sure its got dealer history, the prices have dropped so i think a car like mine from a dealer would be £24,000

thanks

tim

Hello

I assume thats a vogue TD6? I;ve been 'looking' at Vogues but the 4.4 petrol and thinking Gas it.. you can get an unslung 95L tank which means at least it would have a reasonable range.

Have to say out of ALL the 4*4 too look at the ranger still looks great. Am I right in saying the Vogues all come with a roof as standard?

Whats a Vogue SE ? sure I've seen one of these. I even parked next to a guy the other day in a RR and asked him about it, didn't know what engine it was but turns out it was a TDV8.... he has a TDV6 prior and a 4.4 loves them.

Prices are very tempting, and its looks so comfortable.

Cheers

wow nice collection. Wish I could have an impulse buy and end up with a RR

Also from an ex mondeo owner - I loved my Mondeo - it was the most reliable car I have ever owned!!

My step dad had a range rover before, years ago, it was the Vogue....it was a spectacular car, I loved it, it had everything you could ever want and it even had one of those spirit level thingies built in.....everything you need ;)

Nice motor KNU

Yes its a TD6 whick is a good engine, i think in a few years i may go for the TDv8 which is an excelent engine.

The vogue has electric roof as standard and satalite navigation, the SE has a few more bits and pieces, i would stay clear of the SE & HSE.

I have added a few things myself such as DVD player, screens in the rear headrests, i have changed the side vernt to the ones of the supercharged model, the alloys are 20" sport alloys with 295 tyres and i also now have a set of Bentley lambs wool over rugs.

I love it, but the sat nav system is not the best.

next time its clean i will take some more pics

thanks guys

Tim

The betamax system was much better than the VHS that won, there was also the Phillips 2000 system that got pushed out.

A good friend of mine back the 2000 system and set up a special workshop with all of the jigs etc only for it to fold and cease production 6 weeks later, and that was the end of my friend,

Will you be using parts from India now
