Want to fit a AMG Exhaust to my CLK w209, can anyone recommend somewhere to buy other than going through main stealers?

If you want an AMG part then you'll have to buy through a dealer unless you can find it secondhand or part of surplus stock etc. eBay can be good for this - particularly if you look in German auctions.

Yup dealer or eBay is about it for genuine AMG parts.

Do you want it for cosmetic or other reasons? An AMG rear box may make little/no difference to the exhaust note, that's why I had the centre muffler removed shortly after fitting mine.

I would also check with your insurer before making any exhaust mods. at all, some companies will increase the premium and/or excess.

The accessory AMG boxes are sometimes more expensive than the factory AMG boxes fitted to the AMG branded models and are matched to the engine so just as quiet as original.

If you have the backbox from a much higher capacity model fitted then the exhaust note sounds great :)

So as an example say a C36 back box to a C180 or C200?

I would get a customised if you want to get something that sounds more sporty. The AMG system on the CLK55 AMG is very quiet.

Why not try Remus backboxes there very good looking infact they look close to the genuine AMG ones

You should come for a ride in my car then (helps that i have the 5.5 litre engine under the bonnet) but my Exhaust note is most certainly anything but quiet.

I was considering an Eisenmann exhaust for my CLk55. They are meant to sound very good indeed. The AMG exhaust is quite muted until you floor it, which is when it sounds glorious.

I would like something better at how RPM though.

I'd have to say Eisenmann would be my first choice for a non-AMG exhaust. Their website has audio downloads of different exhausts and you can choose how noisy you want it :) .

look at ebay

i think you should look at ebay, there you get everything and for less.

Did you need any special modification to fit that to your W202?

When I had mine fitted It needed an adapter/reducer to fit the rest of the system that was left.
