Where is the colour code on a 190

Hey, I was wondering if anyone could tell me where the colour code for my 190 is located.

I guess under the bonnet on a metal plate?

Also how long is the code I am looking for?

The colour code is found on the embossed plate just behind the VIN plate on the bonnet slam panel. If its NAUTIC BLUE the code is 929 ?? It should also be in the vehicle data card at the end of the service book under Farbe and possibly on a label on the underside of parcel shelf in the boot

It should be on the bottom left of the data plate. A 3 letter number e.g. 199 (Blue black) 744 (Brilliant Silver) etc

Or just enter your VIN number into this VIN decoder and it'll tell you the colour it left the factory in:

Mercedes-Benz Club Russia | Mercedes-Benz / VIN

I think yours is Nautical Blue Metallic which is 929...

Over to get some paint mixed up - have a few touch ups needed.

Are there any rare colours Mercedes did on the 190 - I see alot of blue, silverish, red but never one in black.

Also thanks Tim29 on the thumbs up - it is only meant to be my daily but loved it since I drove it away and can't stop buying bits for it.

Nautic blue is reasonably rare I think and always look great in the sun.

Mercedes did two blacks a Schwarz 040 (Black) and Blauschwarz (Blue-Black) 199.

The Blue-Black 199 is quite often seen on the 2.3 16 and the 2.5 16...

Mercedes 190e is an invaluable source of information on 190s and quite an active forum as well.

Is that a REMUS back box on you 190?

Ah I thought the black colours were on the Cosworth 190's as I have been looking through ton's of 190's on google images, really nice ones over in the US also.

Yeh put a Remus on the back as the other one had too many holes ha ha - it has a deep tone on idle (not too loud, just right) and you can barely hear it under high revs just the engine.

Any pics of your 2.5 16v?

I used to have a Remus exhaust on my 1.8, it did sound good! How did you find the fitment, I didn't cut my rear bumper so it never sat quite right.

Hey, very nice 190 Would love a 2.5 16v!

I am not sure how the 1.8's are but the 2.6 has 2 tail pipes as standard so the Remus exhaust just bolted straight on and sat under the bumper ok with no mods luckily as I would not want to chop it about
