Apologies for the complete noob question. I’m trying to hook up a car battery charger to a W218. I see the ‘+’ by sliding the red cover over but where the hell is the ‘-‘?

Thanks in advance.

The big nut on top of the suspension strut next to it.

(Or any other bit of exposed metal connected to the chassis)

What are you trying to achieve? Remember that it's not a good idea to jumpstart one car from another due to modern electronics being sensitive to surges.

Not jump start. I don’t drive the car much. Esp with the colder months coming, I wanted to hook a ctek charger to it.

Leave that cover shut. All of that is +12v and big fuses in there, its got a slidey top to keep you causing yourself damage but sparking of something else ...

The ground is connected to the chassis, so any exposed big nut/bolt that is on the body. However, often Mercedes have a copper coloured post near by that should be used.

The link below shows a LHD W204 car, but look on the right hand side in a similar place...
