where to buy sewing thread for soft top

hi

having not quite recovered from the £300 price tag to have 2x 5 inches of roof stitching on my r129 restitched i am going to have a go at this myself

only problem i have is i have searched for sewing thread for a soft top roof but clearly am not entering correct search string

does anyone know where to look (website or dealer), I am also hoping to find the same colour (purplish)

You could try contacting d:cass and see if Dave could point you in the right direction, or perhaps sell you some. You could do worse than ask him for a quote to do the job?

You are looking for a heavy duty cotton or linen twine thread as used for leather boots and canvas tents (also sailcloth), normally bees-waxed as you do it, used on two needles. Try a haberdashery or cobblers.

Try a yacht chanderly shop or a Marquee Hire firm, I would assume that the y would use this thread for repairs to their Marquee's.

My family own a yacht chandlers , possibly some whipping thread would do this.

What colour do you need ? not sure if we have any in black ....
