One of my xenons stopped working this morning. Is it best just to get a replacement from the dealer, or are there any good aftermarket replacements?

Someone please point me in the right direction. :thumb:

Try E-bay for a replacement burner although it is best to replace in pairs as the light outputs and colours seem to vary wildly!!

can these be changed by DIY? All the other makes of cars i have had, said dealer only, should change due to the very high voltage?

As long as you're careful, they should be ok to DIY fit.

Yes, they use very high voltage so either isolating the lighting circuit or disconnecting the battery would be a good idea!

Hi,
Try this e-bay seller, very cheap and good quality lamps, less than £20 for a pair, with free P&P to boot, they were delivered in 3 days.
HID conversion kits items - Get great deals on Xenon Ballast, AUDI BMW VW HID kits items on eBay.co.uk Shops!
When fitting make sure the lights have been switched off for at least ten minutes, and do not switch lights on with any of the plugs or lamps disconnected.

I think I mentioned changing mine out on a thread a while ago.
Think it was about 105 quid for one from the dealer! I was not expecting them to change it just test it as apparently it is not always the lamp but possibly the black control box behid it.
left hand side/passenger i managed, drivers side would be impossible.
will search my old mails

The previous mail, if it helps?

is the method to remove the entire lamp unit.

it will be a xenon D2S-35w.

I noticed yesterday it was purple in comparison to the other side, tonight he wife comes home with an alarm.

Thanks,

Simple answer is.
1. Turn the large back cover a half a turn to remove.

2. There will be a black unit in front of you ( power control module) which has open/close printed on the back.

3. Twist in open direction and this comes out.
4. Unplug small wire connector tot he power module.
5. A wire clip holds the bulb in place, needs unlatching on both sides.
6. Push and twist the bulb and it will come out.

7. To install, just the reverse, making sure bulb is aligned with cut outs and spigots.
8. Install wire clips.
9. Install power control module and plug in connector which would have come out.
10. Put large balck cover back on.

It helps to unscrew the water bottle and lift out of the way.
This is the easy side the drivers side has even less room to get your hands in.

Then prey they dont go often. The price of these lamps is pretty steep

Make sure black cover is tight. If it's not it will draw in damp air.

Condensated Bi-xenons are not a good look - very noticeable.
