Trying to work out which is best to go for. Or which is oem?

Euros comes up with all shapes and sizes when I enter my reg!

Usually prefer Bosch but don't know which will be correct. Any recommendations?

Thanks.

Thanks!
Will look for some prices.
Also, is there a definitive way to know if battery needs changing. Symptoms of mine, are a little slow to start on a cold morning. Nothing on STAR. Was thinking change the battery as a precaution!!??

Any car electrician and most Halfords can carry-out a battery test. If the initial test seems OK, the battery should be retested again after 10-15 minutes to see how much charge it lost during that time (from memory it should not loose more than 10%).

Additionally some batteries have wear indicator that changes colour according to the battery's condition.

And keep on mind that morning battery issues can also be the result of faulty alternator or belt, or excessive drain overnight e.g. faulty alarm system etc.

On another note, original batteries these days can last a very long time, 7-10 years is quite common (though of course dome die sooner than that). So if the battery is less than say 7 years old, I would test it properly before replacing it as precaution.

And as a very rough test you can also check the battery voltage from the instrument cluster's 'hidden menu' (or just by using a voltage meter / multitester directly on the battery) before starting the car in the morning, but it is not a substitute for proper testing using battery tester.

Mmmm 5 winters [2008 reg] are like what was referred to as the 7 year itch in the days when people used to get married. Might be when trouble starts. I harp on about this a bit, but on modern electronic laden cars replacing a battery at the first sign of trouble [ barring any specific parasitic drain] is a no brainer imho.
ps VARTA make the top Bosch[ branded] batteries;)

I found MB were cheapest for battery and 3 year warrenty, my last one only lasted 4 years! typical a year after warrenty runs out

Thanks all...will do some digging.

Need to find out if the battery is at fault.
If it was 80 quid or so wouldn't mind replacing for sake of it. But costing around 200 seems I need to be sure if it is at fault!

p.s. Didn't realise Varta was the Bosch premium, I thought it was a lower-end Bosch product!

Bosch quite often "farm out" their high volume consumer products manufacture its why I migrated to NKG Spark plugs -- Varta are now part of the massive Johnson Controls conglomerate who also make the Optima battery range.
