I'm thinking going to germany to buy a used sport coupe 220 cdi, but I don't know which gear box to choose!

The manual gear box's on mercedes are a bit slow, and the automatic transmission are almost perfect but only with 5 speed (I have a 1998 CLK200K with 192hp-portugal edition, with auto transmission)

With 143hp the manual gear box is a bit slow but in accelaration and top speed is better than the automatic, I think!!!! I'm accustomed to get full use of the gear box, and I like to get some control of the car, like the bmw 320d with 170hp manual gear box I drove usually.

I have some friends who have a c220cdi with a manual gear box but I don't know any one with an auto or sequentronic, so, any one there can help me with the choice?

And about the sequentronic is better than the manual?
with wich one we get more performance?

I'm thinking buying with sequentronic!!

I think the autos are all tip or sequentronic so shouldnt have a problem with control. If you go for a manual, you will have a hard time when it comes to resale in the UK.
I would go for auto even though it makes more sense in terms of power to go for a manual.

Hi,

My brother has just purchased a 2001 C220 CDI, with 6 speed manual gearbox, I found the gearbox smooth and quick, the only negative side is the reverse up-shift, which takes a little getting used to!
