Which is worse?

I've just driven my vehicle for the first time since it was worked on at MB, to find that the undertray has not been secured and is now dragging along the road. This doesn't fill me with confidence and to have a working vehicle off the road is bad enough, but to have it off the road due to this is just unspeakably annoying.

So following on from the thread about main dealer abuse of someones car I thought I'd ask which is worse:

Main dealer caught speeding in your car

OR

Driving down the road with bits hanging off due to their incompetence

T

I'd say speeding down the road as they are aware they are doing that, whereas the undertray hanging off I'm sure wasn't intentional.

Still annoying though when they can't get simple things right.

I agree with James. Thrashing a car for their own fun and using public roads at horendous speeds is unforgivable.

Undertray dragging down the road! Bet you thought the car was terminal with the noise it made. You pay enough to have top levels of service at dealers so things should be "bob on" when your car is returned to you. One good point perhaps - Your car was not thrashed within an inch of its life after the service on a "road test" Maybe a negative tho - Why was there no road test after the service? That mistake would have been spotted if there had been.

I don't care if they drive my car hard providing they warm it up properly first. I want the thing tested properly & once it's hot 'speeding' will do it no harm whatsoever. It's what they are designed for.

Leaving bits off or half off is far more worrying & makes me wonder what else they've done in a halfarsed manner.

To be fair the clips that hold the undertray on tend to rust and lose their 'spring' , then can pop out even if they appeared to be in when put back . I have replaced these clips on various 124 and 201 cars .

I'm sure the mechanic did put the undertray back after working on the car - you will probably find that a rusty clip has fallen out after the car went over a bump in the road .

These clips are pennies to replace .

It is a 59 plate Viano. There are 4 bolts, 1 of which the garage have admitted was missing

Ah , OK - thought it might be the W124 in your profile .

The under tray not being fixed. The thread on the other forum is a major breach of trust but I doubt there is any lasting damage. Your undertray wont be so pretty after being dragged along the ground.

Main dealer caught speeding in your car would be disrespectful - but might mean punishment and some discount (hopefully!) and no lasting damage (hopefully!)

Bits hanging off = incompetence, an incompetent repair could get you injured!

Bits hanging off is worse in my book for same reason.
