Hello

I'm going to service my car and ecp list semi and fully synthetic oils. Does anyone know which is best for me.
The car is a 2002 W210 E320 cdi at 103k miles. It has been remapped to 260bhp not sure if that makes a difference?

Thanks

How much does the oil and filter come to? I got my CLS serviced (oil and filter only with a service stamped in my book) at Mercedes for £180, just a thought

You will be able to buy Genuine MB oil as sold by the stealership for about £45 from eBay MB sellers. I will try and find the link and post it for you.

May I ask where you get this info, as I am trying to ascertain what oil is required for a 1999 C43 AMG.

Just done an oil change on my w211 e320 Cdi 2006.didnt really know what to use so after a lot of investigation I decided to try Petronus 5-40 fully synthetic.i then had a few days away doing around 450 miles.the car ran really smoothly and quiet and the engine temperature was lower than before.it said on the bottle allows engine to run cooler and somehow it does.also on the M25 doing a constant 70 ish (at night) I was returning 47.6 to the gallon.this is slightly more than before so to wrap up I am delighted with this oil.cost £47 from euro car parts, filter from MB cost £10.took car to Ipswich tyres and they did the job for £27 inc vat and stamped the book.£84 total.better than mercs £168 last year

A possible explanation is that thinner oil does run cooler. Very approximately, half the energy that goes into heating up the oil comes from pumping losses rather than combustion heat transfer. Surprising to see it make a significant difference on a water cooled engine but the effect is easily measured on an air cooled engine.
