White powder on top of C270 engine.....what is it???!!

Morning one and all, i have a broken turbo pipe/intercooler pipe on my C270 and when i took off the right hand side engine cover to see how easy it will be to replace i noticed white powder like stuff all over the place, looks like the final scene of Scarface on top of my engine.......Looks like its coming from a cylinder with two pipes connected to the top, not sure what that is though.........

Secondly - I didnt change the hose as thought someone better with cars than me should do it and then this morning on way to work i heard a big pop noise and my car was about as fast as a clown on a unicycle......... Lifted the bonnet and there is oil splattered all over the place and it sounded like a chiefton Tank (so not all bad haha).... Dropped it off to have the pipe fitted at the nearest garage to my work.....

A couple of pictures might help when you get the car back? The white powder could simply be alloy corrosion or might be dried up antifreeze from a leak.

I have had white powder when I had a weeping radiator hose, so I agree it could be antifreeze.

Yes there was a mirror, blade, Kerry Katona and robbie fowler......It was a great party but i just cant work out what it is....
