Whoops! I'm in Doncaster...

I wonder if he's reached John O Groats yet?

Will have to do Land's End to John o' Groats one day. On this occasion I didn't get any further north than Jedburgh, before heading back towards Carlisle on the A7, and then home via the M6/M1. Making a few coffee stops en route, I got back in the wee hours of yesterday morning, with 856 miles on the odometer and an overall mpg of 24.8.

Here's a few photos from the trip:

I really was there!

Is that tenorite grey by any chance? :)

Not letting the side down with your Mercedes 'parking' there I see!

Observe the hand in the driver's door window of the red car alongside. I had a feeling he might be thinking of getting out, so left him plenty of door-swinging room. :)

I am told the Telegraph has regular adverts for special underwear that helps with this sort of thing.

Whenever I hear an announcement for Crossing Continents on Radio 4, I can't help but mis-hear it as "cross incontinents". Well, they would be, wouldn't they...

I must say the new SLK design has moved on since I had my 320. I like everything about your car, the design, the colour, the wheels and of course the engine.

Undecided about that funny little lip thing on the boot though.

Still have fond memories of my R170, which was my introduction to SLK ownership. It was only a 200 (despite the 320 wheels) but that didn't matter when the sun was out. :)

Me too. It's about as discreet as it could be, but I would still have preferred not to have it if that had been an option.

The area around the station was pretty quiet. I was less confident about leaving it parked up for over an hour in Hallgate (below), but it survived the experience unscathed (as did I).

Good to see that you moved away from there!
