why dont people indicate anymore

Because they can not be Bothered!!! and Arrogance.!!!

I was always told (by drivers who are now in there 70's when i was a teenager( l am in my late 40's now))driving is a privaliege, and not a right.

And they were so right then, and they are even more so right now.

I belive that if people had this mentality they would be more aware of what they were doing on the road.

As opposed too,

I am in front of you, and I will do what i like, when i like.

and the same thing go's for the people on traffic islands and turning off a main road,I am not telling you which way i am going, Guess.

How pathetic.

There is no respect or courtesy for one another on the highways nowadays.

It's all ME ME ME.

Of course there are those of us that do indicate when ever we are about to make a manuoeuver and we are becoming the minority.

I believe that the not indicating at a roundabout was invented by the americans as they have none..... roundabouts that is.....

:D

I expect only to indicate if it benefits another road user. If its a done deal then I don't.

BUT

when i do indicate it's after i've looked in my mirror and before I do the manoevre. Many people use it to say "look - i've nearly finished changing lanes" instead of "look - I intend to change lanes".

And that is why "I always indicate" is fine if you drive around oblivious of everyone else, and "I only indicate if it benefits another road user" is an example of defensive driving - it FORCES YOU to be more observant and aware of what is going on around you.

Ever got on your way, some distance into a journey, and found a door mirror out of setting? not a good sign. Likewise not being able to remember the last 20 minutes of your drive home, or a good test...

Next time you get a random prompt (eg if you listen to the radio, make it when the presenter says "Britain" or something similar) and ask yourself if you can say what the last road sign you passed was.
If you can't remember, you weren't concentrating on your driving, and it is time to buy a BMW.
