Why is this CLS sooooo cheap?!

Disgruntled wifey selling Hubbies P+J whilst hes away??

email sent asking for info.

I reckon its probably a typo (probably £29k or 39k) or someone trying an ebay style scam on pistonheads.

or it has suffered the same fate as brians

Or its a scam....plenty of those around where the guy says the car is now abroad and can you please send the money via Western Union and he will send the car !!!!!!

This scam preys on the "this is an absolute bargain...I must have this !!!!" punter.

Seems like a scam as the description does not really match the pictures. It says it has 'FRONT AND REAR HEATED SEATS' but I cant see the heated seat switches same goes for 'FULL MEMORY SEATS' ? Didnt the wood pack consist of wood on the steering wheel too ? The wheels dont look like AMG's either ?

I'm with Will. Unless its a CAT B/C. Will, check your inbox please :)

Replied :)

In picture 5, what is on the keys?? Could this have previously been in a garage for repairs......in line with my previous post

Could it be Brian's monster from the deep lagoon? :o

Received a reply via email

Right.

I received an email yesterday from the "seller."

Hello

The vehicle is in showroom condition, no scratches, no dents, accident-free, HPI clear in every aspect.
2006 model, '06 reg (BD56 XTS) and still UK registered. RHD, UK supplied (NOT AN IMPORT), 25126 miles.
As you've seen in the ad the price is £ 12,990. This is my final price and it includes all extra costs that might appear during our transaction (delivery cost, insurance, change of V5 registration, ownership transfer).

The car is now in Valencia, Spain because I have moved here with work and brought the car.
I have moved, here in Valencia, with my family and I have realised that it is very hard for me to drive RHD cars here where everybody is driving LHD car, besides I must pay a large amount of money to register the car here in Spain. It will be much cheaper for me to send it back to the UK and sell it there, then to register it here. I am selling it to buy a LHD one. It has UK plates on it, so there will be no import duties to pay or something like this.

The only problem that remains is that I don't know, yet, what company to use for handling this kind of transaction. I will go the next couple of days to the car dealers in this area and maybe they can recommend me a shipping company with decent policy and good reputation.
Also, you are welcome to propose any company you know and trust. Of course, the company must have a good reputation, and they have to offer good services for both of us. Another important thing is that I need to be close to this company so I can easily take the car to them for inspection and evaluation.

Let me know if you have any news for me, or I will contact you in a few days, so I will have time to search for the right company to manage our transaction

Regards,
Thomas

What do you guys think?

Shall we play a wee bit?

If the story were genuine then he'd leave the car in the UK with someone he trusts to be sold for the going rate while renting a car in Spain. The difference in resale value would be huge!

Tell him you are boarding a plane later today to visit the car!

Ask if a Western Union transfer would be acceptable!!

No, tell him you are going to send him a cheque for £20k and he must write a cheque for the difference to be sent to your friend who you owe money.

That always sounds genuine.

Great.....I have near enough the same email for a BMW that was being sold via ebay.

Just by looking at the price I knew it was a scam, but kept the guy going for ages. .....ask him for the chassis no, reg and engine number so that you can do an HPI check just to get the reaction at the end of it all.

He told me that the logbook was in the container with the car so he couldn't provide that info !!!!!

I eventually reported the guy to ebay.

One thing I will say....I bet there are plenty of folks that fall for these "too good to be true" offers.

The obvious thing about these adverts is if you supposedly owned these cars and wanted to sell them, any dealer would give you more than what the advert is asking so its obvious its a scam.
