Buying a retro styled car is like wearing a knock off Rolex, 99% of the time you could buy a mint and perfectly usable genuine classic for less money and it wont depreciate. A Merc specialist near me sold a W114 280ce in almost as new condition, with bundles of history and under 60,000 miles on it for £7000. Anyone who has ever driven a good one will tell you they are perfectly capable of being driven in modern traffic without stress, aside from the lack of ABS and airbags and higher fuel consumption I cant see why you'd want to pay whatever the premium would be for something that just looked old and lost money hand over fist as you drove it.
i would rather keep the w114 as a 60k car & save it. the idea of the retro car is for buyers who likes the classic look & buys a new car every few years

Unused classics just make me sad, get em all out on the road earning they're keep i say, cars are not meant to hide away in garages and lockups.

C111 please.

P'raps then, somebody should be following in the footsteps of PS AutoArt.
Admittedly, his job is made a lot easier by dealing with a single berlinetta body that barely changed in 30 years...

Did you get our Plymouth (Dodge) PT Cruiser over there? It's done pretty well. The Chevrolet attempt at it, not so much

The PT Cruiser? Yes we did - just about one of the WORST cars ever to be brought ashore in the UK!!!!
