Will this stereo fit?

I don't know the answer, but I was just wondering what would be the benefit of this unit over the Audio 20 unit you probably have now? the iPod connector and USB port? I think these can be arranged for the Audio 20 unit, but best ask members Alfie and Richard, this is their website:

Welcome to www.comand.co.uk

They are based in Lightwater and can supply re-fitted COMAND units as well as alternative (non-MB) entertainment systems.

It'll fit. You just need one of these:

HTH ;)

Lol are you saying it won't then??! I just presumed it will cos you have a bug gap under current stereo so once removed there will be a big space.,.,?!?!?

Mercupgrades.com has a headunit removal guide.

Search the electronics section of the forum, plenty of past threads about aftermarket units in a W203. From what you have posted I take it you have a pre facelift with audio 10. You will obviously need a fascia adapter and antenna adapter. Car already has iso connections.

Not sure wether it's audio 10 or something else. How do I tell?
Will I need a fascia adapter with one of these larger head units? Will the current antenna not go into back of new head unit?

Thanks

Post a photo...it takes the guess work out.

Or he could simply google audio 10 and have a look at a picture off one ......

But a photo of his dash will allow me to assess whether he could fit a double Din unit by removing other trim...the audio 10 is single Din.

RIGHT

its audio 10

does this mean ill have to get one of the smaller stereos?
cheers

Cheers pal, with one of these adapters will the larger stereo fit into my vehicle ok?

im unsure so want some heads up before i spunk some dosh

Your existing radio is single Din. You want to put in a double DIN...the adapter will do that.

i understand these are n00b questions but i really am not too great with cars, cheers :(

Are you aware you are liable to loose the steering wheel button control of the radio etc with changing the unit - unless you are lucky enough to get something that takes an adaptor to make them work? Also be careful who you choose to fit the unit - pulling the radio on a w203 means removing most of the centre console! I had a specialist ICE firm install my CD changer (which also involved pulling the radio to make the connections on the back) and got off very cheaply at £50.

If I can find the link, there's a very good post on a US site showing what's involved in changing the radio on a W203.

Edit - it's http://forums.mbworld.org/forums/showthread.php?s=&threadid=13302
