Windows 8 ARGHHHHH

Right the new user is stable the old one isn't...

OK that is good news... this means that worst case you can simply create a new user and copy the contents of her data from old user profile to new.

First though, I'd be looking at what is in start-up for her user profile as it is this causing the issue.

When I logged out of the new user and tried to log in to the original admin account the loop restarted. Now it wont log into the new user in safe mode:(

1. Unplug PC
2. Open window
3. Pick up PC
4. Walk towards opened window
5. Check area outside window for hazards
6. If all clear.......launch as far as reasonably possible!
7. Purchase Daughter Brand new Apple MacBook Air
8. Open that mature Whiskey, it's been a stressful time ;)

So whatever it is is being copied to the new profile after firsst use.

Sounds like malware - suggest running malwarebytes in safe mode and see what it finds.

.......................working fine with Win 8...................................

Are you sure these words go in the same sentence? ;)

Pretty much every version of windoze since XP has been a pile of poo. Its just so user unfriendly.

Your post brought tears to my eyes. XP, such a lovely piece of work.:thumb:

7 is good.

I've been running this at home since 2009 and in a company environment since early last year and I actually prefer it to XP now.

Makes XP look dated and some of the new stuff in 7 makes XP feel a bit crappy.

Vista and 8, well they are the in between MS cuckfups.

9 should be good (finger's crossed).

Win 8.1 pro on my desktop is better than win 7 pro for handling the memory and large file transfers across media drives and GPU applications.

With that said with a couple of tweaks it looks the same as Win 7 did.

XP is just sad now for PC dinosaurs who are too tight to upgrade :)

For the OP's problem looks like a virus is munching the file system.

I run some old OEM XP machines on our shop floor which are living a happy retirement doing simple jobs not connected to the network and I'd forgotten how fast XP ran with no AV etc.

Well the 8 laptop never fixed. I got it in safe mode and got all the data off. It is now with an IT chap for having windows 7 and office installed.....120 quid...

Had same problem, In the end just took off what data i needed in safe mode then reformatted drive and re installed windows 7 and its been fine ever since. It was a virus or malware that standard software just could not find. Its just a pain re installing all software again.

Should have stuck in a nice SSD drive in there before reinstalling.

I still think you gave up too early mind.. should have given it to me to play with as I like challenges like this.

Thanks Spike. Two things made me decide to take this route; firstly that my daughter hates windows 8 and secondly my time! I'd already spent a couple of days trying stuff on it and I needed to get on. Thanks for the input and ideas.
