Hi guys.

Ive started cleaning my new-to-me W209 CLK Cabrio but I don't seem to be able to get the black screen surrounds to look good.
They have what look like water marks on them and though I've used a bumper care and renovator they look only OK and greasy.
I've found by wiping them with my bare hands they look slightly better but not great.

So I'm looking for what you all use to keep these surrounds looking black and shiny.

Thanks very much for your help.

It is sounds like limescale. Did this car live in a hard water area?

Try a limescale remover, limelite is pretty good. Just my opinion though.

Thanks guys. Baby wipes, now why the hell didn't I think of that. Ive just discovered how great they are for interiors.
I'll give your suggestions a go and report back

Cheers

try using high quality products such as AG or chemical guys bumper or plastic trim care - does the job for me

I use AG vinyl and plastic. Try to not get it on the glass though :)

I think the stuff I was using was Turtle wax or Simoniz. Can't remember now but I'll check.
I certainly have AG vinyl and rubber. Its brilliant and i have most of their range actually but I figured the finish on these bits might need something different.
I also have a black bumper care which is literally like liquid boot polish. Can't remember who makes that though.
I like the idea of baby wipes still but I'll have a play and see what works and report back.

Looks like it will have to wait until the weekend from the weather forecast I've just seen though.
