The windscreen washer bottle on my ML55 is being replaced by the dealer because it leaks and therefore useless. So I'm waiting for the new one. In the meantime I took it off and discovered the rubber gromets for the pumps are in poor condition. Also hairline cracks are where the securing lug is and underneath where the base sits on its housing. The bottle holds 7.6 litres, which is quite heavy, especially if it is kept full all the time, which of course people tend to do in the UK. Anyway, I made an Araldite mix and sorted the hairline cracks after sanding and cleaning with white spirit. I then glued a rubberoid mat to the base of the housing to absorb any friction between the metal base and the plastic bottom of the bottle. I used a clear sealant on the leaking gromets. Hey presto! I can clean my windscreen. But I'll put the new bottle in when it arrives.
