Phew as that's what Autoglass fitted at the 3rd attempt once they came with the correct screen.
Mind you my S205 has the windscreen with all the camera holes (with blanking plates) and inbuilt antenna (not connected apparently) but only has the rain and light sensors so may have caused some of the mix up.
Purchased car brand new so who knows what happened.
Hmm I was surprised - the oldest car is still only 14 and the youngest 7. Hardly classic status.
I'm not bothered about OEM anyway. As long as the screen fitted is fine, the sensor works and it matches the spec of the OEM in terms of tint and quality... it doesn't matter to me.
I have had all manner of problems with BMW screens and Autoglass - best advice given to me was always let a dealer sort it unless it really is a dire roadside emergency that would halt the journey! Then get it replaced for the correct screen when you get home..... rubbish really!
If you don't have an original winscreen fitted apparently you cannot calibrate the the auto wiper / lights system via STAR if you have that feature, as STAR requires a code input taken from the windscreen.
Just out of curiosity and it may be related. I collected my new E class last Saturday and it has the signature of Karl Benz on the windscreen. Looked at others in the showroom and they had signatures, don't know if they all said the same. I wondered if this was just a new gimmick from the styling studio of if it identified a genuine MB windscreen. Anyone know?
