Hi All,

I have a 3 month old S205 C Class Estate, all of a sudden the drivers side wing mirror glass keeps falling out, i haven't hit anything it's just started to fall out when closing the door behind the glass the plastic clips that keep the glass in place are snapped well 3 of them, £297 for a replacement, has anyone had anything similar?

It is possible that another car hit your wing mirror while your car was parked...

I would check with a specialist before going to the dealer though. Replacing the wing mirror housing should not affect your warranty so no need for the dealer.

Also have a look in eBay for second-hand 'as new' wing mirror housing in the right colour?

Hi Markjay,

The housing is absolutely fine no marks nothing no cracks new as the day i got her, it's the plastic behind the glass that broken, it's the plastic teeth that keep the glass in the housing that have snapped

If you buy a second hand unit you may be able to salvage the motor bit that has the plastic tabs attached to it and replace just that.

Tiny bits of mastic where needed should fix the problem.

If you're looking for a cause rather than a solution I'd suggest that these things are normally quite robust and it may be that some clumsy s*d has swapped their bad one for your good one...

It's probably just not pushed on properly. You've really got to push hard to get them to snap into place.

It's booked in today with Merc in Aylesbury, blu tack is doing it's job at the moment!
