So I have noticed that my new (used) C250 nearside wing mirror glass is aftermarket!! so the mirror heater does not work and nor does it move when the reverse gear is selected!! other than a ridiculous price at a main dealer, if I can source one is it easy enough to change? :thumb:

You only get the tilting passenger wing mirror of you have selected the memory seats option

OP does your car have memory seats? If not, it's not going to move upon reverse.

If the glass is aftermarket (as I guess mine is too, as it doesn't demist much either, but the right side gets physically hot and is bone dry in heavy rain whereas the left stays rainy.

The fact it's aftermarket has no bearing on whether or not it'll move. If it moves with your controls on the door, then it moves. The glass just clips onto the motor mechanism inside the mirror.

If you do have memory seats and the mirror isn't moving, you need to be in reverse when you set the position of the mirror, it'll then return to that position whenever you go into reverse.

2009 W204 and it doesn't have memory seats so it would seem you guys have solved my problem ;-)

Glass replacement is very simple - just use something like a flat wooden spatula to press out from behind , as close to the centre as possible ; the new one pops back in easily .
