long crack has appeared on drivers side windscreen on my W212 E350.

Needs replacing.

Would you make a fuss about getting MB to do it?

If so, what would be the best way of getting insurance to agree MB doing it?

TIA

A decent windscreen repair outfit have far more experience of replacing windscreens than a Merc dealer who will just call an outside fitter anyway, same as dealers never fit the tyres you buy through them. You can ask for MB branded glass though.

If my experience was anything to go by (see my post yesterday) then because the sensors are now bonded to the glass, they come from MB anyway.

There were so many options and variants that Autoglass ordered one from the dealer with the VIN number - fitter said it was the only way of making sure that you got the right one.

Nope, that's how the glass manufacturers make them. Bear in mind car companies actually 'make' very little other than sheet metal, all they really do is screw together the parts they buy in from many different sources.

Autoglass did a cracking job. V happy. As new.
