Winters for my C63

vredestein wintrac xtreme
pirelli sottozero winter

Stick with the big name manufacturers and you won't be disappointed. Just go with whichever big brand you can get the best deal on :thumb:

Don't discount the middle range tyres either, I ran Falken Eurowinters for 2 winters on my previous Scirocco, they were excellent.

I'm struggling with the rears, even going up to 265 from 255 there is little choice. I can get Vredstein for front and rear but slightly different range, so different tread.
Sizes I need are 235/35/19 & 255/30/19

Which winter tyre sizes are recommended in your manual?

Sometimes narrower tyres are recommended for winter, say 20mm narrower than Summer fitment. Also it's not uncommon for stagger to be dropped for winter, running the front fitment on the rear too.

Maybe 235/35 front AND rear.

Just put Pirelli Sottozero on the CL. From 275/35/19 to 255/40/19 on the rears kept 245/40/19 on the fronts. The Pirelli's are great as I'm sure all the other premium tyres are.

Nothing in my manual for 19" only 18". I've eventually found matching Vredstein for front and rear. The fronts are as per summers 235/35/19, rears are 265/30/19. Vredstein seem to get good reviews and are a decent price. A friend of mine asked me to order a set for his wife's VW Up, 4 at 14" comes to less than the cost of one of mine

Have you tried Tyreleader for prices ? Very competitive.

Yes thanks, Tyreleader is where I've seen the Vredstein, good price and range.

Tried to order from Tyreleader but they declined all attempts of payment from 3 different cards. Thats a 12 tyre order they've lost. I've ordered my mates and a set for my van from Oponeo with no problem. I'll have to search elsewhere for the C63 tyres.

I seriously doubt this is correct for the C63, there's an inch difference in the wheels, front to rear (8j front, 9j rear) and unless you have an LSD fitted, with anything less than a 255 on the rear, you'd be spinning up the rears in just about every gear.

That's why it's best to check the manual. It may suggest narrower wheels, not just narrower tyres.

I can happily second Nokian winter tyres - I've been using them for the last 7 years and have found their WR tyres (which are more all-season biased than their Hakkapellitta ones) a very good compromise.

I've just put some WR D4s on my CL. While I have to be more careful with the loud pedal, they're quieter and more comfortable than the ContiSportContact 5s so encourage me to waft rather than roar :)

Thanks for the suggestion but they don't do the rear size. I actually ordered Nokian for my van yesterday, I had them on my wife's Mini and was pleased with them. The only place I can get the Vredstein is Tyreleader but as they wont accept any of my cards I'm a bit stumped.

I eventually ordered Vredsteins through Giga Tyres (no I hadn't heard of them either) They are part of My Tyres and arrived from Germany in about 7 days. Had to go 265 on the rears, they seem fine.
