W124 E500
Just finished doing this on a spare piece of wood i had lying around.
Went on a course today where i learnt how to do it and done this there.
Am now thinking about maybe doing the rest of the car.
What do you think?

I think you'll regret it after the "lets cf the whole car ! " fad has been and gone. Its not that sort of car.

Looks great. Well done.I think the Cf is a sportier look, as opposed to the country house wood look

If I had an E500, I think I'd want to keep it original.

The logic behind CF I think is weight saving and strength - I only like to see it used where it genuinely offers something. Obviously all IMHO :)

I say start off just doing the wheels and lower parts of the bumpers. Then, if you don't like it, it'll be easy to cover up with some smooth Hammerite.

DO NOT DO IT
I must be getting old,but I hate fake carbon
:D

CF the seats, steering wheel and headlining. It will make the car look like a black series.

Even though my car had the carbon fibre bits, I prefer the wood any day of the week.

Personal preference I guess :)

I think i should make clear i didn't mean the whole car, just the wood trim pieces. I think it contrasts better with the grey leather interior i have.

Also, it is real carbon! Just not used in weight saving manner.
Its not a sticker, its proper carbon twill weave.

That makes it more interesting, but I still wouldn't do it to your car.
Is this something you are going to be able to do for other parts.?

Its is nice in a league of its own however on the E500 the wood just looks a whole lot better. If you are thinking of a trim change why not try Piano Black with high gloss finish that would look nice.

Yes it is. Im thinking i may do a couple of small engine bits, nothing major, but little accents here and there would look nice i think.

The trim in that link looks all wrong.

If you are making these pieces then I assume you still have the original?

Therefore nothing wrong we you doing all the cockpit bit and see if you like it. You can always change it back?

Like everyone said, its all to do with personal tastes, with the looks of your E500 I'd go for it as its different without being tacky.

My W202 Sport has the original fake carbon look interior & if I could find decent real carbon RHD interior I'd get it. Unless you're looking to go into small number production? :D

I to would love CF interior vs. Standard aluminum in my w203.Have looked into it, but can't justify the 1500+ Euros MF design want....:(:(
