Mercedes A Class W169
This is my first post so please be gentle.

I bought my first Mercedes this week (W169) A160 and it comes with the Audio 20 stereo, but I was wondering has anyone bought and fitted an audio 50 into an A Class or a different name such as the below model. I would like inbuilt GPS and ideally dvd player to entertain my 5 yr old son.

Hey there, there should be no issues with installing a aftermarket double din head unit. I would use a brand leader like alpine though as you may have issues integrating the steering controls.
It is probably cheaper using aftermarket that the mercedes option .

Plenty of W169 Comand units on ebay, not sure how easy or hard they are to fit. I fitted a cracking alpine system in my W168 though!

would advise on a well known brand; jvc, kenwood etc and these can be bought for less than £450, you should be able to get mirroring for Android and iPhone (if that's your thing) it means you can watch anything off my phone on the screen and some apps can be operated from the main audio screen, you can link hard drives; mine has 200gb hard drive plugged in with all my music, loads of films etc. (may have to convert some videos to appropriate format) Bluetooth is great, and siri will work as well. really happy and as I mirror my various sat nav apps on the unit, upgrades etc are not any problem. I would suggest fitting from an audio fitter, mine had fibre optic cabling and fitting was quite labour intensive, standard speakers (Harmon Kardon) sounds fantastic but had aftermarket amp put in, you will get some money back if you decide to sell stock items afterwards
