on its premiere in 1997....a whole series of international prizes and awards have since underlined its exceptional design, off-road performance, functionality, driving pleasure and safety
If he thinks the early MLs had exceptional design and driving pleasure he must have been smoking something
The interior of the new one looks nice though.

Yep, my fathers already got a deposit down for the new ML320 CDI.
Dealer told me yesterday that the first new Petrol ML's are expected in sometime March 2005, depending on how many 'old shape' ML's are still in stock.
How, I tried on Wednesday and they told me they won't be taking orders untill at least March as they have no firm production dates and no prices or specs at all.

...but seriously, some stealerships seem to know stuff and some don't. Some deliberately deny knowledge of stuff and some just seem to be ignorant! Dispite apparently all being one big happy family now they're all owned by DC it seems that the same old inconsistencies exist.
The way I see it the dealer has 'guaranteed' Maff's father a build on the first 320CDI that they can get. All dealers get allocated a set number of build slots which they can allocate at their discretion.
If the dealer is asked for a build slot and the customer offers a deposit as an act of good faith then it is simply good practice to honour the customers request.
Morning Maff,
I was pleased to see that my assumption was correct, I clearly posted my message after yours, but before reading your response.
The practice you have described is exactly what I would expect of a 'decent' dealership.
Has your father decided on a colour? Our neighbour with the ML55 elected for the 'Gold' type colour. Definitely not to everyone's liking, but in my opinion it does not look out of place. (The sound is to die for though)
