I have recently bought a x218 CLS Shooting Brake and have been having issues sourcing replacement air struts as Mercedes seem to be on back order / no stock anywhere in UK or Europe and no time frame. The obvious alternative Arnott have stopped manufacture of the replace so again no stock (expect US).

Mercedes Part Numbers
LHS A2183206513, A2183203113
RHS A2183206613, A2183203213

I have tried a German aftermarket option but they have been faulty due to an issue in manufacture and they are offering a refund / wait end of Sept for a new batch to come in.

Can anyone recommend a UK based expert / specialist that might be able to advise / recommend alternative options (including converting to coils etc... but would need coding as well) / or getting remanufactured not having much luck with google (unless i want to go overseas).

Also, does anyone know if E Class Struts would be compatible as they seem to be in stock everywhere and some website quote both w212 and x218 part numbers but not sure if there is some small difference.

Thanks

Please contact Mercedes Benz of Farnborough - 01252 490645 - as they are my go-to for Mercede sparts and managed to get some Airmatics for another member here where other dealers said that they could no obtain they.
Ask to speak with Tim and say that Bruno sent you!

Don’t be tempted by Aerosus unless you’re absolutely desperate and are comfortable with the risk of having to remove and replace them. The failure rate - even at point of installation - is shockingly high.

I have been in exactly the same situation twice, with three struts, and so I had to reluctantly buy Aerosus struts as we had been waiting weeks already and there was no expected stock date from Mercedes.

All three Aerosus struts had to be returned immediately because they knocked loudly straight after fitting, and they were much worse than the old, knocking leaking struts they replaced.

I then had to wait for Mercedes parts to come into stock. I found that they showed on the Mercedes parts system as being unavailable with no expected date, but arrived without warning.

I put the first bad strut down to bad luck and a bad batch, but for it to happen again - with two more struts - has now put me off. The labour cost of fitting and removing really adds up.

My ML400 came with a brand new Aerosus strut, to replace another Aerosus strut which was knocking after 10K miles. When fitted, the brand-new one knocked too...

I'll never buy anything by Aerosus.

I had to use an Aerosus strut on my CLS55 as MB ones were on back order in uk and Germany with no expected date quoted and the car was my daily driver. Seemed to work fine with no knocking but I cant attest to longevity as the car was sold within 500 miles. Real question is why on earth given the number of airmatic cars (and the huge price for MB struts) does MB not have a good back stock and reliable supplier.
