Xenon Headlights on my CLK

I have recently acquired a 200 CLK Avantgarde. The car is fitted with xenon lights which is fine, a little strange having the dipped lights brighter than the main beam but hey ho! My question is the covers on the headlamps look and feel like plastic to me. Is that correct? I can't find any reference to that on this site and as far as I can tell there is nothing similar to Realoem for BMW that lets you see the breakdown of the car. Any information would be welcome.

They're supposed to be plastic. Nothing to worry about.

Are they easy to remove or replace. They seem to have got badly scratched.

The scratches will polish out. New lenses are not available.
