C63 AMG
Hi Guys.

Just thought I would share my experience of the Yokohama AD08 tyres on my C63 incase anyone is looking for new tyres. I've recently got my C63 AMG, my previous car was an Audi RS4 B7 (the 4.2 V8) Saloon. I've run these tyres on the RS4 and was very pleased with them, but I had no idea how much of the insain grip was down to the Audi Quattro and how much was the tyres...

Anyway, I had 4x AD08 tyres fitted to my C63 last week. Stock sizes, 235 up front and 255 at the rear and having now done 500+ miles to scrub them in I decided to take the C63 out for a proper good blast, and my god does it stick. You do have to get a little heat into these tyres, but as you do the grip just gets better and better. After 10+ minutes of fast driving down twisting roads it got to the point where I could nail the throttle through 1st and 2nd and get very little wheel slip at all. In 'Sport' mode on the ESP, little enough that the ESP doesn't intervene at all. I can seriously boot the car mid corner too, and yes the rear twitches a bit.. but it just finds some grip and goes. I'm really very very chuffed with these. They have transformed the car completely into a serious B road weapon.

I certainly shall not be going back to the Conti Sport Contacts the car came with from the MB dealer... The only thing to note about these is they do take a while to scrub in. The first 250-300 miles they where really iffy.

Cheers, they will probably be my next set of tyres.

Was looking at either MICHELIN PS3's or the Yokohama AD08's.

Thanks.

I will be looking for some new tyres for the back of the E55 and will definately consider these but I think they are track tires?
Not sure what they are like in the wet

I can't comment on wet in the C63 but in the RS4 they where fine in the wet as long as it wasn't standing water.

Good feedback, thanks. I'm running CS3 at the moment but considering doing something different, and this helps. Be interested in more feedback about wet driving and longevity, as we all know the 63 is a hungry beast especially when it comes to eating tyres.

I'll keep you posted with regards to how long they last... They've only been on 500 miles so I can't comment. They where on my RS4 for nearly 6000 miles with very little wear but that was a Quattro car. I'm expecting my C63 to eat them a lot faster!

That said, given the rears spin up considerably less on these, maybe that'll actually help tyre wear!

I have these tyres too. The dealer fitted 4 of them last September just before I bought car from them. So far I've done 4k miles and they've suffered some abuse and they've still got 5mm left on the back. I was considering getting some Conti 5's next but I think I may stick with more of these now.

Thanks Rob. 6000 - you can be expecting to change them on a 63.

Wezza32 - sounds like very good wear rate, don't think the CS5 will last as long, but if don't have some fun what is the point of owning this car :-).

there was talk of michelin super sports for mileage

or even the cheap and cheerful Kumhos ...which i am currently running

i need (4)some new tyres too:dk:

So Mika, how did you find the Kumhos on grip and wear as you experimented with these. The Michelin tyres seem to be amazing, but come with w serious price tag.

Rob,
Just a quick question. Ad08's are a w rating but my merc ideally needs a y rating. Any issues on your c63 with this as I've a c250 that I use for track and road use.
Thanks.
