If Goodyear Efficient Grip Tyres are any good?
My new to me car has 3 newish ones, plus a Chinese Ditch Finder.
I was going to replace them all with PS5s but do I need too?
When I could just replace the one nasty one!
I tend to drive very hard.

I was about to say that as long as the three tyres are barely worn then pop a matching tyre on, and then I read your final statement. If you drive very hard then put the tyres on that your happy with.

I had GY Efficient Grip on my Porsche 968 cab, found them good even when on the odd occasion the right foot got heavy! I aalso have GY EG Performance on the front of the SLK but could not find 245/40R17 so have Yokahamas on the rears, quite happy with them. As above, just replace the ditch finder with same as the other 3, only change all 4 when their either worn out or you find your driving style does not suit the EG's.

That's the positive answer was hoping for.
Any understeer in the wet?
Thank you.

Sorry Micky, I tend not to drive our weekend toy in the wet, and on the odd occasion that I do (like our first day in Northern Spain in the 968) I'm gentle on the right foot, and did not notice any understeer. I stick by my first thought of replacing the ditchfinder with same as the other 3 then driving the car and seeing what you feel, you'll hopefully get a pleasant surprise and save yourself a bunch of money!

I've found them okay in the wet and tended to be progressive rather than suddenly letting go. I only had two on the front of a car, and didn't go all 4 wheels when the rears needed changing as the pair I had didn't have rim protection for alloy wheels. Don't know if they've updated this?

I agree, I've booked the car in for 3pm tomorrow, for one identical tyre.
If they are OK I've saved £500!

Well I'm absolutely astonished.
Being fixated with Michilins for years, these have now proved to be a very good tyre.
I havent pushed then in the dry too much, but they seem OK, 90% before my **** goes, I've ample time to sort it with the steering wheel
But in the wet they are great, as you said, plenty of warning, allowing steering wheel adjustment to keep things progressive.
Great saving as well.
A better wet tyre than a dry.
Price wise, an absolute bargain.
Thank you to all who replied.
Mick.

Do they have an alloy rim protection lip these days?

I’ve got them all round on the E320 at the moment and front axle of the CLK (getting Goodyear on the rears in the month or so ) .
I’ve found them a stunning tyre in all respects .

Is that?
- you have Goodyears all round?
- you have Goodyear Efficient grip all round?
- You have Goodyear Efficient Grip all round and they all have rim protection?
- something else?

The reason I ask is back in the day when they came out, I'm sure I got them and the 'eco' tyres didn't originally have alloy rim protection back then. If this has changed, they can go back on to my watch list 👍

Had these on my car for many years, found them to be great, just replaced them with the updated efficient grip 2 version, £492 all in, there also much quieter than most. As to grip when pushing them, cannot speak to that as I don't drive like I stole it.

Goodyear efficient grip + Goodyear Eagle F1 . Both have rim protection .
Add them to your “crazy watchlists “ ;)

I've found this website useful for tyre comparison purposes: Tyres by Brand - Tyre reviews and ratings

Make up your own mind how many of the private individual contributors aren't much help, but the German magazine comparative tyre tests are useful.
