The rev counter is not working in my w123 230e.
Everything else is working fine in the instrument cluster.
I have been reading on several forums that the problem can be the tach amp.
I am assuming that what I have taken a picture of is the tach amp...? The black 'thing'?
The posts also say that...
Greetings from South Africa,
I am very excited to join here after buying my Merc.
I owned a 280 W123 too, but sold it due to too many breakdowns.
I stay in sunny South Africa and use my sunroof everyday......:D
I have a few questions and I would love to hear your opinions.
My friend has a 1984 123 series 230 E petrol. He would like to know how to get the Power Steering Resevoir Cap off. Might sound a bit daft, but he's not sure wether you twist, pull or yank. I think its rubber. He dosent want to damage it i presume. Many thanks for your time.
This old lady is going to be taken apart and scrapped soon. She is a W124 230E with an auto box. All that is wrong with her is blowing exhaust and wheel alignment. Box and engine seemed to be very smooth on my way down from Knutsford to Enfield.
All I am going to take/swap are: complete...
Made a boo boo on the tensioner last night,
Whilst loosening the 19mm bolt to loosen the tensioner I also untightened the tensioner adjusting rod a little too much so the rod is now loose as if its not connected to anything within the tensioner
I have searched every post on various forums...

Front speakers easy to upgrade and I won't be chopping the dash apart to fit larger than standard there. It's the back ones that are my issue as this car...
722 408 auto box.All clutches, bands etc are good. All clearances in the box have been checked.
Adjusted the control pressure cable as the box was taking too long to change during light throttle.
Slackened the cable and now most gear changes occur at around 3k RPM.
When I floor it,the motor...

I have been looking for a Haynes manual for my 230e but I see only 250/280 covered, and the others are Brooklands or Peter Russek - I have only ever found Haynes really useful. Do I buy the 250/280 version for all but the mechanicals and then a 124 version for that ?? any ideas ?
Hi everyone,
Recently I've noticed that my tranny is slipping from 2-3 only when cold temperature.
Once its warmed up like 15-20 mins or so its an excellent transmission.. no slipping, excellent shifting etc..
Its just when cold in the morning. It selects gear around 4-5 seconds after a gear...
Quick question.... I've got to replace the front section of my 1990 W124 230E exhaust, and have had quotes from £200-£350 (fitted).
I've been offered a cheap 200TE front section exhaust that LOOKS the same shape.... anyone know if it is? Or can point me towards online exhaust part numbers...
