Hi When changing filter on a 1993 300D (124 Estate with 603 engine) noticed that the filter had caught on a ridge of the housing and was taking in un-filtered air. See attched pics. Best checking that yours is fitted properly. And yes it was a genuine filter etc etc. Good Luck 230K
