Having half filled the car with fuel yesterday evening (it is having the rear brake pipes replaced on Friday and the tank will need to be lowered) I could not get the filler cap to re-engage and lock.
Looking at the cap it was clear that the locking pins had rotated to the lock position and...
Would really appreciate some help please. Diesel is leaking from the hole just below where fuel nozzle goes in. I have changed the fuel cap, added the rubber seal from the old cap and tried to reshape the bottom area with mole grips.... all to no avail.
I do not feel confident in trying to...
Hi, my W210 E320 CDi has this leak from the fuel filler cap area which I've read about and it seems the filler cap is the issue (it has a cheap after market one at the moment). I am going to source a dealer with this in stock and get one first thing in the morning and see if this solves the leak...
For quite a while now, i've had intermittent difficulty removing the fuel filer cap on my 210. I can always do it in the end but SWMBO sometimes has to go and find a strong man to help.
The cap is basically very difficult to turn. Does anybody else experience this. Why does it happen?
Hi All, I have a W246 which has an intermittent issue with the fuel filler cap popping open sometimes leaving it flapping around.
At first I thought someone had bumped it in car park but this weekend a couple of times its sprung open when car was unlocked, anyone seen this before ?
It seems...
I have a 2005 ML350 with an LPG conversion. The filler cap is on the rear quarter 6 inches or so to the upper left of the fuel flap. I am getting some bodywork done next week and want to relocate the LPG filler. I have pulled off the left cover on the bumper, and I am pretty sure I can relocate...
Hi folks l hope someone can help here with there experience and also people who have had the car l have..
l have a X Reg A140, and today l had the bonnet up to check the oil and water.

Can anyone suggest where to obtain the auto tube filler cap and locking pin.
I looks as if I need to destroy the locking pin to top up fluid.
Is this a MB dealer only part,
Thanks for any reply in advance
Hi all just refueled and when i removed the filler cap there was quite a rush of air does this mean my fuel tank breather pipe is blocked or is this normal for a w220cdi:dk:
A very minor problem, but if not too difficult I would like to fix it.
The pin that locks the filler cap cover is being energised, but does not come out far enough to be effective. Is it a big job to remove the boot trims to get at the problem solenoid? Or any other ideas? Thanks
I feel a complete donkey for asking this question BUT needs must.
I am attempting to remove the oil filler cap. Having located such item I notice it has a screw head in the middle of the cap. Is this just for effect or do I need a spanner to remove ? Seems bizarre just to remove filler cap...
I test drove an E320 CDi the other day so that I would actually know what one drives like. When I checked under the bonnet I noticed some oil on the top of the undertray but it looked like possible spillage when topping up, nothing really on the engine. At the end of the short Autobahn run...
Was just wondering whether anyone knows if the metal filler available will be suitable for my polished lips on my alloys as one has a scuff?
Does the filler polish up the same as the metal, or is this only suitable for wheels being painted?
Many thanks
Jon
Morning all,
I have searched the forums and still can't seem to find what might be the cause of a small leak that seems to come from the filler cap on my cabrio.
The petrol seems to be coming back past (or through) the filler cap. It is a non vented cap (correct mercedes part number) and...
In the winter, my e280 accumulates an oil/water emulsion inside the oil filler cap. This is the second winter that I have owned the car, and it is just as bad if not worse than last winter.
Is this an unavoidable (and non-damaging) side effect of cold weather and short journeys, or does it...
Just a quickie.
I've ordered a Fuel Angel (once bitten.......), which replaces the standard fuel filler cap. I'd like to have the Fuel Angel attatched by the tether as per the original. How do I remove it from the cap?
W203 estate pre facelift.
Did the utterly dumb thing today of not putting my fuel cap back on having filled up with some well priced petrol, and then drove 60miles. Noticed the traffic fumes seemed to be strong and they got more petrolly so when I parked checked the filler cap to find it gone. Apart from wasting fuel...
If the actuator or motor that releases the fuel filler flap were to fail, you have the option of releasing it by accessing the release knob (which is not a knob but rather looks like a key) and turning it clockwise. Its located hidden away behind the trunk lining on the right side. All this info...
