For some dumb reason I would like to paint my Brake calipers.
My axle stands are about 14 inches high so the car will require a decent lift to get it on 'em.
I've looked at "home use" trolley jacks but not sure if they will go under the car's skirts.
Looked at Bottle jacks but they no longer...
Is there a place at the front of my car at which I can jack up both wheels at the same time? I can see that there is a plastic cover under the engine, and I haven't spotted a jacking point yet.
I want to jack the car up so I can get the sump plug out to drain the engine oil.
Let's see if I've got this right. If you are trying to jack up the front of a W202 the only points you can use are the rubber jacking points on the sills or the subframe cross member. Once you have jacked up the vehicle you ought to use axle stands and the only place you put these is under the...
As per title, I know its a long shot, but if anyone has one of these knocking about (there are two on each side skirt & are there to hide the the jacking point hole)....
My kit is missing one, car is about to receive paint within the next week so need one ASAP.
The HWA code on the back of...
hi
as some may already know i'm restoring my 1985 107 SL.
i've done quite a bit of repair to the sills. unfortunatly, the jacking tube isnt the best.
at the moment i've created the jack point hole and welded the tube on etc and all looks OEM but i wouldnt completely trust the jack point...
hi
i plan to put my R107 on axle stands for the restoration that is beginning next week.
Can anyone confirm the best place to rest the car on the axle stands, both front and rear please? car will be on them for about 1 week before the wheels are put back on.
also, where is the best...
hi
seem to have lost ( more likely, stolen!) the right rear side jacking point cover. its a little square piece of plastic attached to a short plastic string.
anyone got one lying around, please!
cheers
Hi All,
I want to jack my car up so that I can get underneath it to get to the airmatic compressor pump on my 220.
I'm gonna get some axle stands from screwfix but trying to decide between a trolley jack and a bottle jack.
Bottle jacks are cheaper but don't know why.
What do you guys use...
Does anyone know if you can get some sort of inserts for the plastic jacking points on the underside of the sills? (R171 SLK). Im looking to change my wheels in a couple of days, I have a new trolly jack but the bit that lifts the car is cup shaped and I dont want to damage the plastic jacking...
I've looked but I cannot find it in my hand book  . Where is the best and / or safest place to put and use a trolley jack on my C Class Coupe both front and rear.
Up to now I have been using the scissor one from inside the boot but it gets a bit precarious at times so I bought a...
With a mighty thud my new trolley jack gets dumped on my front doorstep. A mere 37 Kg.
So, the question is simple. Are there specific lifting points on a W211 Estate for a trolley jack and if so where? If not what are the best point to lift from?
Nothing in the manual. Had a quick look...
Hi,
I'm new to both Mercedes ownership and this forum. I have purchased a 2001 E220 CDi Avantguard W220 and was hoping to do the basic servicing myself. Before I even start I would like to know the approved jacking points for a trolley jack. Looking underneath there appears to be a large...
Hi
Please can you tell me how you remove the jacking point plastic? covers on a Merc 190E
It looks as though they just pull off/out but I don't want to do any damage by doing it wrong ie: should I use a screw driver to lever them out/off?
I have ordinary steel wheels on this Merc which...
My lovely 1988 260E, which is in very nice condition otherwise, with just stone chips on the body and one small rust blister has rust on and around the 4 jacking points. The amount of rust varies, but all the jacking points have some. The metal tube which fits into the body has rust on the...
