I have an lovely example of a very low mileage slk 280 but the only thing letting it down are some rusty wheel bolts on immaculate non kerb'd wheels!
I looked on ebay for replacements but they seem to be for the previous model slk so other than the main dealer does anybody have a suggestion of...
Hello
Ok - so yesterday this it what my front drivers side arch looks like (worst of the 4)
I first started picking at the flaky paint. And then used my drill with a wire brush end to grind down the rust out to clean metal.
As per
Once ive really cleaned the arch up i intend to spray them...
The time has come to sort out my arches on the SL. I have read with interest Malcolm's post on 'the other side' about Hammeriting the arches and using the Mini gutter trim to protect them once treated. I bought various types of this guter trim and feel it may not stay on very well. I also want a...
Does anybody happen to have a rusty RH vented wing from a W124 diesel. I dont actually want the wing, all I want are the vents and enough surrounding metal so I can let it into something else...
And a photo of the wing removed would be nice. Is there some sort of shield to prevent water...
My '53 plate W209 CLK has just failed its MOT on rusty rear brake pipes, I am told by the garage that this is a common fault on these models and it an expensive job as the tank has to come out. Has anyone heard of this before?
Hi Mb'ers, I am new to this but really need some help bringing my Merc up to a higher standard. I love my 1990 coupe (owned for 3years), but it has some rust developing on wings and water coming in through boot seal. Does anyone know a good trustworthy restorer who can also provide a quality...
An odd idea...
But I have some rusty panels, and I don't feel like forking out a lot of money on a respray.
My thinking might be a tad off, but following from a sort of idea in this thread: http://www.mbclub.co.uk/forums/bodywork/106111-w208-1999-clk-advice-rust.html I've thought about...
The bodywork of my silver 2000 SLK 230 is in pretty good shape, but unfortunately there's a bit of rust under the 4 wheel arches. It's creeping round the corner onto the front face in places.
I spoke to a few people who've advised me to have it done right and I'd need it ground down, rust...
My W203 will be treated to refurbed alloys in the near future, and I'm planning to replace the rusty wheel bolts at the same time.
I recall RAD rust resistant bolts from AlloyWheelsDirect getting a mention before - anyone got a set and care to share their experience?
Any alternatives I...

I am a new owner of a 09 plate C Class that seems to have rusty wheel nuts on all 4 alloy wheels. I use normal soap and detergents to clean the car and I just can't understand why the wheel nuts will look so rusty so soon.
Has anybody else experienced the same problems?
Does it suggest that...
Hi All,
I went to look at a 2002 S320 L today as i thought I'd better get a family orientated car with the little one getting bigger and harder to get into her baby seat in the back of my coupe. So i went to see this S320 L which i loved (in the pics) as it had so much room in the back as I'm...
The main star shaped bolts (Torx I presume) at the top and bottom of my front brake calipers have gone rusty - it's not causing any problems but it just looks shyate.
It's happened to both my cars, 2007 and 2009. I suspect the salt on the roads recently has not helped, but even so I would not...
I spent last weekend on my rear wheel arches.
There was no obvious sign of rust looking from a normal standing up position. The rust was only visible from below or with a mirror.
It seemed a good time to tackle it before it crept round the corner, as I would not have to worry about...
A neighbour has a W123 "R" Reg 200 Petrol saloon
Body looks v rust, paintwork not good, interior is a fawn colour - hub caps look great, (i.e. very good) and a few bits look worth saving
Must be a non runner...destined for the scrap yard?
Is it worth anything?
