stalling

My 96 C180 has developed a problem where when I press the clutch pedal or put the car in neutral, revs drop rapidly and the engine stalls unless I press the accelerator very quickly. Obviously, this makes the car undrivable ... Any ideas on what the problem is and how to fix it? Thanks, Alfa

GF has an A Class 2002 2100cc (the Evo motorsport) when cold the car is very hesitant, it requires a lot more gas or it will stall. It seems to improve as the car gets warmer, but not to the point of it being normal. any ideas? thanks
