Mercedes-Benz inaugurates new climatic wind tunnels: Weather at the touch of a button
Stuttgart, Jul 18, 2011
Stuttgart - Mercedes-Benz has inaugurated two new climatic wind tunnels at its Sindelfingen site, designed to bring extreme weather conditions indoors. Temperatures ranging...
Although I had to sleep for a night shift, I awoke to find a glorious day of an indicated 23 degrees
Car was running exceptionally well, I even had to turn down the air con as I was getting too cold !
On the way into work, after an hour stop off at my parents, the car was very eager...
Now the weather's warmed up a little bit I see that my C270 CDI is using a lot less fuel.
Amazing difference: up to 33% better off when the temp's up past 12 degees than when we were experiencing zero and sub-zero.
With Gadaffi's civil war (supposedly) pushing up oil prices, the warmer...
Parked the C32 on the drive way on Christmas Eve in a few inches of snow, having driven 10.5 very steady miles without touching the brakes much at all. It's stood there until this morning, so 10 days in total.
I covered about 120 miles in the week before Christmas, and I'd been very light...
In the winter, my e280 accumulates an oil/water emulsion inside the oil filler cap. This is the second winter that I have owned the car, and it is just as bad if not worse than last winter.
Is this an unavoidable (and non-damaging) side effect of cold weather and short journeys, or does it...
Over the last week the A140 has done quite a few miles, and with the weather being as bad as it has been, the car got dirtier than it has been for a very long time, but it's part of living in a rural area really. Today I cleaned the arches thoroughly, and the underside to remove any salt and...
Hello all.
Not sure about you guys, but I really hate the misuse of lights. My gripes are as follows.
1. Rain / snow + silver (or similar colour car) and no lights, so not visible, and I cannot judge their speed.
2. Fog lights when it's not foggy, and sometimes NO CLUE that the fog lights...
Having been driving for 45 years. I've never before been beaten by the weather.
I lost that record this morning after a night of heavy snow in Barnsley.
Not a hope this morning.
Same for tomorrow unless they get round to ploughing my road.
It's not a bus route, so we don't count !!
Hope...
My W124 220CE (M111 engine) can give problems starting in colder weather.
It is garaged and can be unused for a couple of weeks at a time. Last winter it often wouldn't start from cold straightaway. The engine turned over but it wouldn't fire. I tried not touching the accelerator and also...

This is a manual 2.0L 'X' All Weather - which means it gets, amongst a few other things, heated seats and a sunroof. It's been totally faultless during the time I've owned it - no suprises there! Absolutely everything works as...
The weather strip on the driver's side rear passenger door has begun some form of corrosion as the black paint has started peeling at the corner.
Anyone got the part number for this?
My 2004 W203 saloon VIN:WDC2030462R171835
A recent thread on another forum (A2OC) made me think:
Why are we told to test tyre pressures when cold and adjust accordingly, but told to check engine oil level when warm? Is this not the same theory but in reverse?
My point being, this morning it was ~0C. If I adjusted my tyres to 30psi...
Hi
Is it normally to get really low MPG in cold weather like we are experiencing at the moment?
I was driving the car at approx 30mph yesterday evening when the temperature was around freezing and was only getting 7.5mpg?
Is this normal for V8's or is there a problem with my car...
Grateful for any advice on replacing the door weather strips (rubber seal between window and top of door skin) - the ones on my C43 no longer seal and I can't clear the window by winding it down...!
Thanks in advance,
Mike
Hi
Just a little reminder that as the cold weather and icy mornings set in, its worth turning off your automatic wipers and auto folding mirrors, so that they don't get damaged if they are frozen up when you start up in the mornings.

Horrible weather here in the north east yesterday. Absolutely lashed down with rain for 24 hours non stop. The 28 year old 280se did a sterling job though as the everyday car. For some reason though the heater fan inside the car went incredibly noisy. As it was dark I thought I would investigate...
I am thinking of putting a set of "winter" tyres on the car in November time. I have seen that there are !all weather" and "winter" tyres. What are the pros and cons - I can guess but it would be a guess so advice would be appreciated.
Castrol recomends
Edge 0W-30 or Magnatec 10W-40 for the rally car...
problem is, I need to decide which.... gven that it's going through the scorching Desert, 10W-40 (or thicker) may be better... right?
Or have I got this totally wrong?

Had a very serious hail storm on Saturday afternoon, hail stones around the size of big marbles.
So now the CLS is covered in dents on the bonnet, roof and boot
They are very small but annoying, I know they are there although many will not spot them anyone got any bright ideas?
I know...
I have a 2005 estate, and the rear door doesn't fully rise anymore without pushing it up. If you forget to do this it usually hits your head. So, I took it into the MB dealer and asked them to sort it out under my Service Plus agreement. They said that it was normal for the rear door to not rise...
