£63,000 Skoda...

Good job it is armoured, anyone who is going to pay that much deserves shooting :)

LMAO !! :D

Classic !

Ahhh well we buy them for export so don't pay the VAT! Although we do run a couple of B6 Skoda's we didn't pay that price!!!

But knowing the guys up there they do make good cars. Typically used by judges and the like.

good idea for an armoured car actually. no-one would suspect there was anybody important, ie worth shooting, in a skoda

Intersting article in Autocar this week about Skoda's and being Q cars, or rather due to the police using them a lot now and featuring on umpteen Police Stop Action thingies, they are losing their Q status.

Its one of the reasons that the Spetics in Baghdad don't get Low Profile... ie they buy brand new 7 series and S class with B6 armour. Surprisingly they stand out like dogs balls/SUV's in Baghdad and even more so outside.

****ty Omegas, Vectras etc are what you want to go for.

I spent two weeks in 2003 driving around Tikrit in a brand new soft skin hi lux, well it was brand new but after battering it with a base ball bat, rubbing salt into the metal it looked 4 or 5 years old as opposed to 4 or 5 weeks. Plus driving around with a couple of goats in the back helped.

I don't think either of those are much cop really. With passengers and the weight of the armour the engines are not powerful enough IMHO. If I was going for armour I would want a big old barge like a 3l Omega or something...

Not that I'm sufficiently important, you understand...

Ahhh but have you driven them? I have been working with cars like this and i can tell you they are sufficiently quick. You don't need something that will do warp factor snot. The diesels tend to be chipped a little - but you would be surprised at what you actually need. You don't need a rally machine - just something that will get you out of the kill zone.

Nothing wrong with a skoda ?????

Strewth another move of this thread - can't you mods make up your mind?

Not strictly speaking on ebay......

i dont know the cost of alternatives

but i would prefer my tax dollars to be spent on armoured skodas and mondeos if public figures like judges etc need protecting

You pay your tax in dollars? How quaint. What exchange rate do you get?

Incidentally Betty Boothroyd used to drive around in a B4 W124 E320

If you think we have a big debate before moving a thread then you're wrong! I just thought it was more like "spotted on ebay" than "general discussion".

Lots of threads in that section are not actually on ebay but the principle is the same: something for sale to discuss.

I moved it from Off topic. Certainly isn't off topic, it's motoring. At last a motoring thread.

Can't say I agree with Shude, I say General, but it's the way the section has gone.

I see the Spotted on ebay section as the description says. Items of genuine interest people really think may be useful to someone on the forum that are for sale.

Sadly it's evolved into any old crud or humorous thing I find on ebay I'll post about here.

This post I found of genuine interest, but don't belive it was posted because anyone is likley to buy it.

Got your depressionist hat on today Graham ? :)

This is exactly the debate I was talking about.

Back to General then? :)
