Would that thing withstand a proper bullet from a proper rifle. I'm thinking a .30 cal from the M44 or a .50 cal from Browning?

Or would it need to be B7 for that?

Anyway...we all know the 300TD is bomb proof.

If you look at the standards for B6 you will see that it won't.

It will stop most ball ammunition along with 7.62mm medium and short - although 7.62 long will penetrate esp if AP.

Even B7 is not impregable - its there to get you out of the kill zone. Going covert as opposed to hi vis in such things as surburbans gives you the opportunity to get by un-noticed.

Cool - so what is the highest level of protection you can get for standard road cars? And what can it and can't it withstand?

I couldn't find the definition of B6 in the highway code - bless.

As i mentioned B6 will stop everything up to 7.62mm Medium - NATO 7.62 in other words. B7 will stop 7.62mm Long - as used in weapons like PKM's and Dragonovs. There are no real standards for how bomb proof a car is - however obviously te more armour you stick on it the better you will be - but then you become'spam in a can'. For instance most B6 will also be frag grenade resistant. But if they are using an EFP charge - then that can cut through 100mm of steel from 100m away if properly built. This cuts through the armour as a plasma bolt and then when it hits the far side of the vehicle inside it richoets around. The bolt is so clean it will amputate limbs on the way through and leave the rest of the body relatively unscathed.

You aren't actually allowed without Home Office dispensation to own an amoured vehicle in the UK.

For instance a number of companies in iRaq use South African mamba APC's that are B7, but this only means that the bad guys use bigger bombs to attack them. EFP's will cut through them. So as previously mentioned - low is the way to go. Don't be seen and you won't get attacked.

Brings me back to my original post - 'Feeling threatened? Go for the 300TD.' :D
