‘24 C63 S206… Oh Dear

It is, Ant. Good job I waited though, as the price you can get a Brand new one for now, is brilliant compared to when I first mentioned it. At the moment though my C207 has an engine warning light on, it won't rev beyond 1500 revs, it's intermittent sometimes on sometimes off. So need to get that sorted first. But yep still on the cards. And definitely an Orange one. 🙂👍
Bod round the corner to me works in the local MG dealership and brought an orange one home last week. I thought it looked pretty decent.....................for an EV

🔥

I don't mind the outside.... but the interior quality is awful.... think 90s Ford hard plastic and you wont be far away!

Kind of the same in BMW World...there still seems to be this idea that if it ain't a 6 pot then it isn't worth diddly.
Unfortunately, the kind of driver who wants to own a C63 AMG (or M car) isn't interested in the 206 4 pot as sales figures have proved.
The 204 6.2 or 205 4tt are viewed as far better options so long as good examples can be found.
And I agree, over £100k for a C class is crazy money.
Slim can tell us what the cost of a new 204 Black Series was in 2012 when they were introduced. I understand the rarity of them , hence the high price, but I'd never part with that kind of dosh for a C Class.

Imo the 4 pot is to highly strung and cant see the longevity of it most v8 AMG engine's will take a good thrashing every day of the week and still come out smiling (as would be the owner) but can that be said about the 2.0L,only time will tell but looking at the sale's there a big mistake
Eitherway I cant afford 1 and as said above if I could I wouldn't 🙂

£98,765 pre options.

I wonder what the panel would say if MB used a toned down 1.6 F1 derived unit? Still not good enough? 🤷‍♂️

Most people probably bought an AMG for their usual recipe of large capacity engines making lots of noise….

I personally have zero interest in a 4 cylinder or even a detuned 1.6 F1 engine - I’m just not sure what either really get you apart from maybe bragging rights of 700HP?

People have been building 600hp plus 2.0 Honda Civics for years - with no hybrid add-on :D

To each their own and all that !

£25 K per con rod ? , never mind the rest of it . F1 engines are from another planet . The engine in this AMG is just over stressed.
Is it really though? The specific output of the M139I is high - especially compared to AMG V8s - but it was designed to be that way.

I haven’t heard of any horror stories but perhaps it’s too new for that, but I haven’t really heard of any horror stories about the M133 either.

The M133 has been around a long time in the 45 AMG models, long enough for sustained poor maintenance and aggressive tuning to bite.

If small capacity performance engines are rubbish, performance hybrids are rubbish, EVs are rubbish, modern cars are rubbish, and so on, then we need to be open to the possibility that we’re just getting old and it’s the natural process of resisting change as we age, remembering the good old days.

It would have been equally true at umpteen points in history - for the old duffers of the time - but either we weren’t around then or were younger and so were less resistant to change.

It is the way forward, and I am sure can provide all the thrills, spills (and bills) of any older AMG,
though I was asked by someone if my SLK55 was fast

My reply was that if I wanted a fast car I'd have bought a Tesla.
I wanted a noisy V8... 😁

V8s have always been great and will always continue to be so. Great packaging, great power, great soundtrack.

Iv said it on here before , the (alleged) three hundred and sixty something horsepower that my V8 M113 AMG engine puts out is pretty feeble for a 5.4 litre engine, today , with forced induction etc you would expect a minimum of twice that.

Times have changed but I do wonder how many of these highly stressed 4 pot's will be going strong on a diet of Indy and DIY maintenance 18 years and 150K plus miles later ?

We will never find out ICE engines will be long gone by then.

At least thats what they tell us.

I don't think anyone had said that yet.... as it stands you won't be able to buy new ICE cars after 2035.... but I've not seen anything to say that a single used ICE car will be banned. They will just go by natural reduction... so mechanical failure, crashes, rust etc. But I would not mind betting that the current generation of blown small capacity engined car's will be in the scrap yard years before NA engines or larger capacity forced induction motors. Don't forget its not just fast stuff like the new C63.... but even run of the mill stuff is getting ever smaller with more boost. My dad's old 2L petrol Qashkai was an NA 2.0 with 139 horses.. his new one is 1.3 with 138 horses!....but the 1.3 feels much quicker due to the extra 30 fl lb or torque produced at much lower revs. But you just know the old lump will have lasted MUCH longer.
