Our new Sprinter has the new all alloy 2 litre lump, seems OK so far apart from bogging down with a ton in the back if you don't drop a gear quick enough on very slight inclines.
Let's not forget that it's not the engine (if maintained) nor even the chassis / body (rust is rarer now) that will write a newer car off, but its electronics which are the weak point in comparison to older NA and less stressed engined cars
Imo the 4 pot is to highly strung and cant see the longevity of it most v8 AMG engine's will take a good thrashing every day of the week and still come out smiling (as would be the owner) but can that be said about the 2.0L,only time will tell but looking at the sale's there a big mistake
Eitherway I cant afford 1 and as said above if I could I wouldn't
