I have a Mercedes C200 Kompressor 2001 Saloon. I have been getting a P0131 error code for the 02 Sensor. Low voltage Bank 1 Sensor 1. Could someone please send photos of where this sensor is located, or send my links. Even better any videos of how to change it. Also can someone recommend the best place to get replacement parts for this sensor etc..

Thanks you in advance

Search the forum for oil in the engine wiring harness, I bet that will be the problem.

The cam magnet on the front of the engine leaks oil In to the loom and To the Ecu/lambda sensor.

Hi

Perfect, sounds good but can you send photos of where to look. Maybe you can Google something and send me the links.

Cheers

Hi

I think I have found the Cam Magnet, see attached photos. I can confirm that there is oil in the connection which I have cleaned out. Still some in there though :-(

Strange question, if I remove the Cam Magnet will oil come from the engine block or is it a straight forward replacement.

Another strange question, how can the Oil from the Cam Magnet leak into the O2 sensor and the ECU. The ECU is (as far as I know) near the back of the engine bay to the right. Also how does the oil leak get into the O2 sensor. It looks to me that the oil leak is confined to the actual connector.

Cheers

Mark

New cam magnet, oil blocker ln between the magnet and plug, new lambda and clean all the plugs out with electrical cleaner or brake cleaner.

Then erase codes and cross your fingers.

@Auto-mobile

When you say "clean all the plugs", do you mean the connector to the cam magnet and the wiring loom? or something else I should check? Do you have pictures of the oil blocker?

Cheers

Also can you tell me the part number for these parts and the best place to get the parts

I was looking for a O2 sensor for my 08 vito, the place i could find it was mb dealer for app £180, but i'm talking about 2years ago and a cdi engine, but still, be careful, know exactly what you're looking for, all other places i asked tried to sell me a 4pins connection, and i needed 5

Get all the parts from merc, if the parts guy is mercedes familiar then he will probably know the part numbers of the top of his head.

Clean cam magnet plug, Ecu plugs (Ecu itself) and lambda plug.

If you still have problems it will need a wiring harness.

Out of experience the O2 sensor(diesel)/lambda probe(petrol) once faulty can't be fixed, people tried burning it etc, all manufacturers give a aprox 200k miles life for this part so no turning back but mb dealer, it is worth while, i think
Also, not sure though if it's got anything to do with specific models, but a couple of years back my mb dealer recalled my vito for a "wiring harness replacement", all on their expences,

Thanks guys for the information, can some one be a bit more specific on the ECU plugs (ECU itself) Photos would be good.

Hi

Can you confirm if this is the offending Lambda Sensor which I am receiving the P0131 error code.

Cheers
