So Iv had the W204 C63 exactly a month now. First off the relationship started poorly. My second outing in the car resulted in it being recovered by the AA, the auxiliary belt snapped and the pulleys had seized. New pulleys, belt and tensioner and a bill of £785 the car is running well.

Mileage is 84500 so I have it booked into SPR Mercedes in Stockport to have all 8 injectors replaced as well as the PCV valve for preventative maintenance. Really happy with the car overall, doesn’t get used everyday so not spending massive amounts on fuel. It’s a nice well used motor, apparently it’s got a stage 1 but I don’t have any proof. Let’s hope the love continues 😀😀

Sorry to hear of your first trip issue, but glad to hear you are now enjoying the car. Did you recovery it to a main dealer or an independent garage to replace the belt and pulleys?

I had it taken to my local garage and left it with him for the week to complete the repairs. The warranty I got with the car wasn’t worth the paper it was written on so the garage begrudgingly paid out for the repairs.

The warranty is not to protect you....its to protect the dealer from paying out for repairs that they are liable for (warranty or not) for the first six months you own it. Dealers supply the cheapest warranty and just hope it covers THEM. If it was a big bill they might buy a better warranty for cars that are more expensive to repair from now on if they dont want to keep paying out! You were lucky they paid the bill....they did not have to if you did not give them a chance to repair it first.

So for all 8 injectors t be replaced as well as the PCV Valve at a Merc Specialist, does £920 sound about right?

I understand it as he paid the bill not the supplying dealer

Is it the same garage as did the belt and pulleys?

If so then I’d say what they charged for belt and pulleys was fairly reasonable. I had exactly the same job done 2 weeks ago, and the main dealer (not one that I would had had it not been recovered) and they wanted to charge me £1180 including the £192 diagnostic - shocking considering that I told them what the issue was and what I wanted doing, and all they would have to do is to lift the bonnet to confirm. I actually paid £1080 I think after my protest!

So 35% more for main dealer and half of their ludicrous diagnostic fee sounds about right - so bodes well for the extra work you mention (if it’s the same garage doing the work).

It’s not mate it’s SPR (Merc Specilaist) in Stockport. It’s literally preventative maintenance, I don’t even know if they actually need doing or not but peace of mind and all that

The 1 thing you will need to do at some point is the NS cam cover (if it hasn't been done already) as it cracks and drips oil onto the manifold 🙂

You're paying through the nose on these jobs. Pulleys and tensioner are about £300 or less for parts and a couple of hours labour.

Injectors can be bought for £250 and also a couple of hours labour. It's actually an easy DIY.

With regards the injectors, I have contacted various independents and
Are all roughly the same price so I would say it’s what the going rate is.
