afternoon all.

have just been quoted between £450 and £500 for a 108k service for my '93 320ce. is this about right ???

Sounds steep, what will they be doing for that?

Depends what is included - if they're doing brake fluid/plugs/ATF+filter etc it could easily run to that when you price up the parts/labour/VAT.

Obviously you wouldn't pay £500 for an oil and filter change!

Is this MB main dealer, MB specialist or a local general garage?

Where in the UK are you?
Maybe someone here can recommened a good local indie.

i'm based in sw18. the garage in question is AMC. the guy tells me that 108k service is one of the most expensive and comprehensive service levels. he said that this was a typical cost, so i'm guessing that this is an average cost as opposed to 5hrs labour costing £500 !!

Well I'd definately want clarification of what's included if I was booking my car in.

To be honest, if that's just the price of the service you could end up with a very large bill if any other work is needed (discs, pads, bearings, bushes etc etc)

Bit further out but might be worth considering one of the recommended specialists on here such as Ollie in Horndean or TM Motors in Molesey etc.

The 108k service is the second 54k and the third 36k - and it is therefore as big as it gets - it includes all the filters, ATF change and he may have included coolant and brake fluid as well.

Get a list of what it includes - at least he seems to know what he is talking about.

ok. thanks for the input. what has been the damage for you guys, from experience ??

Give tony a call at TM Motors, based in West Molesey on 0208 941 4044, got to be cheaper

Hi Del,

Thanks for posting that :), but I have to say some of their breakdown puzzles me a bit.

E.g - brake fluid - £2.30, antifreeze £8.00 - how much did they replace - seems incredibly cheap! On the other hand, £70.00 for Mobil S seems slightly expensive/average by comparison (even if it is 8 litres)

I often forget how much the labour factors into these bills - previous bills on my current car and one I recently sold make my eyes water - one 'service' cost nearly £4k, about half of that in labour!

I seem to remember the 108k service at MB coming to something very close to four figures on an e320 coupe and that was a few years ago now.
