My alarm fob has a button for opening the boot lid but the cars lock mechanism doesn't have the necessary solenoid. Is there a lock out of a newer car that will fit or has anyone made up a system ??
If it is your desire that the boot lid will flip open when you unlock the boot with the boot open button on the remote then I don’t think it can be done on that year of W124, all the locking was via key blade in door and boot lock, there was no factory remote on a 1988 W124 as far as I know.
In any case a different type of lock is required in order to do the “flip the lid open” trick, I don’t think that one exist for your particular car… others may know more.
Hi Dec, I didn't think one was ever available for the 124 but I was wondering if someone had found that a lock from some other model could be adapted to flip the lid. Its just another one of those things that I don't need but want anyway
Talbir was trying to do this using parts from a facelift W140. He started collecting bits in 2007.
I don't know if he ever achieved it though.
An aftermarket boot popping solenoid wouldn't be too difficult but you would need to use a separate remote for it.

I know what you mean alright, its very handy when your hands are full to be able to flip the boot open, unfortunately any lock of the type that you require, that was not designed for your car, just wont fit, as suggested modification in some way might work.

I have a 107 which has had the door locks converted to electric operation. Also the third button on the (Laser) alarm remote is engineered to work a solenoid operating the bootlid release. Basically I used a spare door solenoid to pull a trace wire which, in turn, pulls on an extra lever mounted to bear on the release lever. It's not exactly rocket science and you will just have to assess what your particular lock arrangement requires to make it work.
