124 Infa red remote help needed

Hi all
what parts on a 96 124 infa red ststem other than the key and sensor would cause it not to work

I've tried the handle sensor in my other car and its ok, I repaired the key fob and the red light now flashes, but I dont know what part controls it all

The controller is the "convenience module" . you will find it under the rear nearside seat squab. the unit on the offside is the vacuum pump for the doors.
