140 600 sel

i have a 600 sel w140,, the problem i am having is that it will start on key but when turned off and tried to start again it will just turn and turn and there is a distinct smell of fuel as if it is over fueling any help please..

Dodgy L5 sensor maybe?? This provides the timed signal to the ecu for the firing order. Sounds like your not getting spark, as you can smell fuel. ( and as you can smell fuel it's probably just as well you've got no spark )

As it'll start when cold perhaps the sensor is failing when it gets warm. These 600 motors are dead complex, best bet would be get it along to your nearest Independant that can plug in the laptop and run a diagnostic check for you.

My 500 V8 scares the pants off me when I open the bonnet - a v12 is even more so.
